Mine Ventilation Laboratory
Last Updated:
The mine ventilation laboratory is equipped with the units of fan testing anemometer calibration and water analogue, mine ventilation measurement devices and gas and dust detectors.
Mine Ventilation Laboratory has the following principal equipment:
Fan testing duct with two fan unit (they can be arranged in series or parallel).
Anemometer calibration test unit (wind tunnel with velocity adjusting unit).
Water analogue.
Air velocity testing devices (anemometers).
Altimeter, barometer, hygrometer, psychrometer.
Several gas measuring devices.
Gas chromatograph.
Dust sampler, microbalance, counter microscope.
This laboratory serves the needs of undergraduate courses (MinE417 Mine Ventilation and MinE420 Mine Environmental and Safety) and graduate courses (MinE505 Advanced Mine Environment and MinE507 Air Conditioning and Refrigeration).
Some of the experiments are determination of fan characteristics; calibration of anemometer, airflow pressure drop measurements, effect of jaw angle, psychrometric properties of air.
